Band Director - Dante Chambers

Mr. Dante Chambers has studied percussion at Norfolk State University and Shaw University. While at Norfolk State University, he served as the principal percussionist for three years in the symphonic wind ensemble and as a section leader in the Spartan “Legion” Marching Band in 2004.  He also served as the head student arranger of music for two years.  His passion for teaching drew him back to his Alma Mater, Highland Springs High School, in 2006.  Under his direction, he lead the percussion section to over 10 first place titles in just a little over one year and over 60 during his tenure there. In addition to working with Highland Springs, he also was able to start a drum line at Elko Middle School along with his middle school director, Mr. Frank Chlorie.  In 2012, Mr. Chambers began a new era in his career, becoming the marching percussion coordinator for the Shaw University “Platinum Sound” Marching Band. Most recently, Mr. Chambers served one year as the band director at Brogden Middle School and six years as the Director of Marching Percussion for the North Carolina Central University “Sound Machine” band program in Durham, NC.

Mr. Chambers’ professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, Percussive Arts Society, Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc., and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  He also serves as a percussion clinician, private lessons instructor, and freelance Disk Jockey.
