Mrs. Patty Weir

Mrs. Weir is the Library Media Specialist at Thomas Jefferson High School. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Driver Education. She also attended VCU for her graduate studies in Library Media Services. This is her 23rd year at Thomas Jefferson and her thirty-fifth in Richmond Public Schools. Born and raised in Richmond, Mrs. Weir is from a large family, loves sports and grew up in the city just down the street from TJHS. She is married, has two beautiful daughters, and 4 delightful grandchildren.

She has worked in three different high schools in the city with the first fifteen years in the classroom prior to becoming a Library Media Specialist.

Mrs. Weir has coached several sports on the high school level including basketball and field hockey, been a class sponsor, senior class coordinator, mentor, and currently sponsors the Viking Book Club. She was a recipient of the Laura Bush Foundation Grant in 2016-17 for $6,000.00 to purchase books for the TeeJay library. Mrs. Weir believes the school library media center is the symbol to students of one of our most powerful tools of success - the attainment of information. She believes in preparing students for lifetime learning, the responsible use of information technology, informed decision-making and a general love of reading.
