Ms. Crystal Potee, Principal 

Crystal Potee, Principal

Ms. Potee is a product of Richmond Public Schools having graduated from George Wythe High School. She attended Old Dominion University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s in Educational Administration.

Ms. Potee began her career with RPS in 2000 where she taught English at Thomas C. Boushall Middle School for 12 years. She transitioned into administration at Franklin Military Academy where she served as assistant principal for 5 years. Presently, she serves as principal at Thomas Jefferson High School.

Ms. Potee believes all students have gifts, and it is her responsibility to lead teachers in assisting students with opening their packages.

Ms. Christal Jordan, Assistant Principal 

Mrs. Jordan returns to Thomas Jefferson High School with over 16 years serving the students and parents of Richmond Public Schools in a variety of roles. As the former School Based Instruction and Compliance Coordinator, Boys and Girl Cross County/Indoor and Outdoor Track Coach, for Thomas Jefferson High School, she was able to increase student engagement and inclusion. 

Mrs. Jordan earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her administration course work at The George Washington University.

Mrs. Jordan has strong interpersonal and proven leadership skills leading teams focused on positive student outcomes. She has an exceptional understanding of laws and regulations that are relevant to special education including parental safeguards and procedure. Her skills will be used to support student behavior, student achievement, and building relationships with the community.

Mr. Anthony Elliott, Assistant Principal 

Mr. Anthony J. Elliott enters his 23rd year in education, and his 12th as an administrator with this being his 1st at Thomas Jefferson High School as an assistant principal.  Mr. Elliott began his career in the classroom (teaching/co-teaching) Science and History, continually helping students realize their potential as they transitioned to their communities.  As an Exceptional Education teacher Mr. Elliott also taught reading, life skills, while providing transition services, and job skills training.  He also coached multiple sports in grades 6–12 before his transition into administration.  Mr. Elliott has served as an assistant principal in Petersburg City, Sussex County public schools, and the last 5 years in King William County Public Schools.  He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors in Liberal Arts, before earning his Master’s degree from Old Dominion University in Exceptional Education.  Mr. Elliott later earned his post-masters certification in Administration, Supervision and Leadership through Virginia Commonwealth University.

Mr. Elliott is a native of Richmond, and currently resides there with his wife, Chiquita, and their children Jalen, Quentin, Aliyah, and Corey.  He enjoys spending time with family, music, attending sporting events, concerts, and cooking on the grill.  His goal is to positively  serve the students, staff, teachers, and stakeholders of Thomas Jefferson high school with the Vikings community everyday.  Mr. Elliott believes in building relationships, engaging students in their learning, and helping them to find their voice as they continue to grow and develop into young adults.

Ms. Joy Moore, Dean of Students 

My name is Joy Moore, Dean of Students at Thomas Jefferson High School (TJHS). I have served in this
position for the past three years. I enjoy working with students and being a part of the TJHS family. I
have worked with Richmond City Public Schools for over 20 years as an ESOL and Exceptional Education
teacher, academics and athletics coach, compliance coordinator, department chair, and mentor. I have
worked with several extracurricular programs including 21 st Century and Upward Bound. I am a proud graduate of Virginia State University, Virginia Commonwealth University and The George Washington University in Washington D.C.
